Over the years, I have learned how to take care of my health even when working 14-hour-days, going out for dinner or travelling. How? By creating systems that are easy to implement - anytime, anywhere. One of the "tools" I use in my personal system is broccoli which I eat (almost) everyday.

Why broccoli?

Several years ago, I went through a high-workload phase. To skip cooking, I only ate protein bars which I thought would keep me satiated and nourished. But after a week of consuming 4 bars per day I started to experience extreme fatigue... and my legs and arms felt sore all the time! After doing some research I had a suspicion: my body was too acidic. This can happen when you consume too much acidic foods such as animal protein or sugar.

So I switched to eating only alkalizing foods: sweet potatoes, spinach, cauliflower and broccoli. Lots of broccoli. Cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli have the power to restore your body's capability to heal and produce energy.

After just 2 days I already felt full of energy again - and the muscle fatigue was gone. Since then I incorporate broccoli and other greens into my daily life, especially when I want to indulge:

  • When I crave some Mac'n'Cheese I simply add broccoli to make it healthier.

  • When I go out for burgers, fries and milkshakes I bring a portion of steamed broccoli with me or compensate with lots of greens the day after.
